In an effort to provide humanitarian relief to these impoverished elderly, The Angel's Depot, a nonprofit organization, was created to provide "Senior Food-for-a-Week" boxes of nutritionally balanced, nonperishable foods, FREE to needy seniors. The food boxes will be distributed through pre-qualified senior centers, churches, nonprofits assisting seniors and government agencies with social service or healthcare programs.
Poverty, hunger and malnutrition are a vicious circle, compromising physical and emotional health and wellbeing. Nutrition is the single most significant factor that affects and defines the health of all people, but it especially defines the elderly. The Angel's Depot first year goal is to provide 20,000 boxes of food for needy seniors throughout San Diego County.

Because of de-institutionalization and advanced medical care, for the first time in history, developmentally disabled people are now living into their senior years. Their parents, if still living, are elderly and increasingly unable to provide ongoing care for their adult children. Few, if any, special supportive services for developmentally disabled seniors are available. The need is acute.

The Palo Alto Elks Lodge has a 65-year history of donations to local groups whose very existence depends on public contributions.
